Ventured out last night to the outlet mall here in Myrtle Beach. Really wasn't too bad and got 60% off EVERYTHING in the Carter's store! So it was worth it but you're not going to believe what happened to me on the way back.

I was driving my sister's tahoe and definitely following the speed limit but need to get back to the beach house and missed the turn for the connector over to the beach. So we went up to the next light and figured it would circle us back around. So we're talking (almost midnight) and trying to figure out our turn. So the light turns green and I turn and blue lights come on behind me. So I pull over thinking he was passing and he pulls up behind me. So I roll down the window and he says " Ladies have y'all been drinking?" Um, what? We've been out shopping at the outlet mall. "Well, you didn't use your blinker when you turned so I stopped you to see if you had been out drinking" What?! Excuse me? So I give him my DL and registration for him to check me out. Comes back with a warning ticket for not using my blinker and reminded me that I would have lost 4 points if I had been drinking. I almost lost my cool. I gritted my teeth and and cleared my throat and luckily my sister took over and was nice. He was a young trooper and I almost said....I'm old enough to be your mother and you have the gaul to give me a warning ticket!! I was lucky I didn't make it to jail. Of course, I find out this morning that my BIL had his Glock in the glove compartment so I guess I was lucky!! I'm still mad about it today! He just pulled us over since we had an out of state license I'm sure thinking he was going to get an easy ticket!

Anyhoo, had a great walk on the beach this morning followed by the hot tub so I am now over it.

Time to BEAT BAMA!

Happy Black Friday everyone. The family and I ventured out at 8:00 p.m. last night and returned home at 4:00 a.m. Got about 4 hours of sleep and we have been pulling out Christmas decorations since then. Tomorrow we are going out and shop at small businesses to support our local economy!

Well, I got tons of shopping done! And it was really pretty painless. Crowds were very manageable, check out lines were easy peasy.

Only one problem - I stood in line for over an hour and a half to bag two blu-ray players. Kick in the pants is, my TVs are so old, I can't hook them up. Need HDMI inputs, of which my TV has none. So, I either take them back, figure out who needs one for Christmas, or buy new TVs. Didn't think that thru too well.

Are you a guide? Run a camp? Both?

F4* will be 6 in January and has never shot a real gun. Here in Troy, he's behind the curve in that regard. I'm sure there are some questioning my parenting abilities based on that alone. I need to correct that soon.

I do all of it but I don't get paid, directly. In-laws own half of Marengo Co. and they lease it out to a group of rich bammers from bham. the rest gets hunted by the rest of the family that resides in the Gump. I HATE deer huntin but these woods get real quiet during turkey season, except for the sound of me yelpin and shootin turkeys.

I'd love to help ya out in gettin F4's face a little bloody but I'll have to run that by the big bosses. these leasors are mild mannered city slickers most of the year but during huntin season they turn into Josey Wales.

Thanks. Between friends and family, I have plenty of places nearby to hunt. Haven't gotten into a lease yet but I'll probably join up with someone next year. I love being in the woods. Used to hunt by myself on some land my M/I/L used to own. There was at least one big buck there but he always outsmarted me so I wound up watching does and smaller bucks most days. That was fine by me, I just liked being out there.

Now I need to start looking into a gun suitable for my boy so I can teach him to shoot.

my first gun was a single-shot 411. slug for deer huntin, shot for squirrels, birds, whatever. graduated to a double barrel 16 gauge shotgun(we mostly dog hunted when I was a kid). then on to greatgrandaddy's 12 ga. and a 30-30. still keep the 3030 in the truck for snakes and such.

There's lots of ins and outs, and what have yous, Norm, but you should look into a 7mm-.08. Not much kick, but no problem putting down a deer.

With that being said, I think it's a disservice to the boy if you don't start him out with a Ruger 10/22.

had a friend that used to let us hunt in Marengo co. Shot my first deer there and my last. They had a gut pond and one of my friends fell in that pond in the dead of winter when dumping a bucket of deer innards. You could hear him shouting expletives from a mile away. He showed up a few minutes later butt nekkid on a 3 wheeler (he had shed his clothes and was squealing about falling into a pond filled with deer parts and such). It was hiiiiigh comedy.
