You are correct and helped me with my little experiment. I only presented part of the story. Anyone who didn't hear his comments for themselves would have only gotten what I wrote. The issue is that John and BSPN has done exactly what I did. They only present Salena's side or the E60/BSPN Magazine side. They fail to mention all of the proof that Auburn did do a lot to monitor, educate and notify parents. There was similar reporting with the HBO story and Camgate. They only presented the negative side and didn't mention the errors nor the rational side of things. What I mean by rational is the assertion by Salena that Auburn changed the grades of 9 football players prior to the BCSNCG. That doesn't sound possible given the fact that the NCAA was pretty much living in Auburn during this time and actively investigating Cam and the athletic department as a whole.

So has there been anymore "proof" offered regarding the grade changing bit of these allegations? Cause I ain't seen nuttin'. I was just listening to Fox sports radio on the way home from baseball and these radio guys are doing exactly what we expected. "So how have wegotten to this point? where schools like auburn are changing grades and paying players??" I scream at the radio about the injustice and about all the morons out there who just take allegations as truth and i almost decided to call the 1800 call in number and become one o those raving lunatics belly aching about their school being dragged through the mud, etc. But then I decided to change the channel at my child's request and all was well again. Good ol' Radio Disney saved the day. Fox sports radio, you can kiss my tookus.

I am starting to think these rumors may actually be good for Auburn. Since the allegations appear to be easily refutable, it sheds light on some of the stupidity some call journalism. This is not a bad thing.

The only problem is, going over phone records is both boring and makes bad radio/TV. The incorrect and unsubstantiated information is way more appealing for ratings and listeners. It's not their story, so they can just quote away and be able to say, "Ooops! Someone else was wrong. I was just taking the author at their word not researching any facts.

I honestly have not wasted the time to read either the ESPN stuff or the blogger b's junk. I've gleaned plenty of the irrelevant info as legit websites and reporters and the AU admin quickly and completely unraveled both stories with facts and supporting documentation. Weekend Update does more source verification for their stories.

I watch ESPN for the actual live sports they air, but try to avoid any of the "news" they manufacture report.

agree with RK on watchin espn. don't know when the switch happened but sometime ago espn made a pretty hard swing to pushin their political/social views. also don't like the power that they have gained within the college football world. hardly ever watch sportscenter anymore, only watch em when I'm forced to. don't mind their British Open coverage. I usually just flip it on the espnews and catch up on things.

I think the change at ESPN was a slow one, but it probably started when reality TV started taking over all of television. Everything is based on drama. Instead of just reporting the news, news outlets like ESPN started creating angles on each news story to report. The more salacious the better. They then check the ratings and see things like the Penn State scandal, the story they tried to create with Syracuse's Bernie Fine, the Cam Newton story and anything involving Jeremy Lin or Tim Tebow seems to move the ratings meter so they just beat us over the head with it.

CBS has over done the Kevin Ware story with Louisville. My wife is a huge Louisville fan and I've followed the team ever since we've been together and become a fan since it's not like I can watch Auburn after the first weekend in March. However, even I don't need to see Kevin Ware's reaction to every play of the game in the final four. It's a great story, but instead of being a sports story it becomes drama and reality TV.
