This is my first time to weigh in on any particular coach choice. I think that Caddy would be a really poor choice. A HC needs to be more than a cheerleader jogging up and down the sidelines urging the players onward. That act plays out in a hurry. The HC has got to be able to develop plays/scenarios for each game and manage the players. It doesn't take the players very long to know whan a coach can't do that. Unless Caddy is some kind of football savant-genius he will fail. He hardly has any experience. Dabo Swinney had worked his way up the coaching ranks for years when Clemson took a large gamble and made him an interim coach and eventually coach. After that, it took Dabo years to start winning at a level that is acceptable to Auburn fans/PTB .... and Dabo was coaching against ACC competition, not SEC.

Caddy has gotten some offensive traction because he is running the QB more than should be if you want to keep the QB healthy for a whole season. Caddy only needs Ashford for the last few games and has been gambling that he doesn't get hurt. The QB running more often has added to what the opposing defenses have to deal with and opened up some scoring against a pitiful aTm defense and outmanned Wky defense.

Caddy is great for a RB/position coach and recruiting. He needs years working at different coaching levels before being an SEC HC.

AU has let emotions overide good judgement by firing Gus and then CBH ....let's just realize where we have placed ourselves in the CFB world .... get real .... hire a proven coach that can build a program ... then ... quit acting like a whiny little brother ... shut up and let him do it .... all without worrying how many wins we are getting or .... what is going on on the other side of the state.

Is this because the rumors aren't coming true? 

Has anyone bothered to consider that Kiffen never entertained any offer from AU? He already said he isn't going, so what is the problem? Sounds to me like fans are just upset because there is nothing to talk about. NEWSFLASH .... there was probably never anything to talk about regarding Kiffen .... except speculations piled on top of each other.

I'll keep my original opinion .... Kiffen would be nuts to come to Auburn and get tangled in our mess ... and his agent would use this ridiculous speculation to get a nice raise out of OM.

I shut down paying much attention Wednesday. I believe it’s Kiffin until it’s not, and I’m good with it. I think we’ll know before head to bed tomorrow and by lunchtime Sunday at the latest.

The most important news is that the mighty Saint James Trojans are headed to the 3A state championship game at Jordan-Hare on Thursday.

No, it is more about how Kiffin has handled this and the pine box comment. It is progressing as expected. Supposedly there are 3 vetted candidates, with Kiffin being the first choice. We should hear something by Monday at the latest, but the longer it goes, the less likely it is Kiffin. The new AD is being tight lipped, and that is a good thing. Freeze is still likely the third option. Te second options supposedly Avery big name.

I hope we find out soon after the Iron Bowl. Kiffin still seems to be the front runner with Freeze as a backup, but hearing that there are three vetted candidates makes this very exciting. My impression is that the name isn't out there because it is a very big name.

I was glad to see the Rhule possibility is off the table.

Looks like, as expected, the Kiffin is off the table. My understanding was that if we didn't hear anything yesterday, it wasn't happening. I don't think Freeze is a given.

I don't consider Freeze a bad choice, but I wouldn't assume he is the only possibility at the moment. Why I say he isn't a bad choice is because he claims to be born again. Well, when you claim to be born again, suddenly your ethics requirements go through the roof and the show cause for firing becomes easier to justify.

Pete Thamel reporting it is Freeze. Sounds like Kiffin wanted to come but his kids wanted to stay in Oxford so he is staying.

As an aside, one thing that tickles me is the Locked on Ole Miss guy was saying he was 95% sure Kiffin was headed to Auburn. Ole Miss fans have to be incredibly confused these days.
