I'm a scientist. I await the results of the experiment. Until the experiment is complete though, I can consider pleasant possibilities.
Comparable to a football season I think. I'm an AU fan. I plan on a successful '13 season. I plan for us to win each game. I also am aware going into it that there could be a loss mixed in amongst the wins. To mitigate and plan for that as a true PM would, I look to the future games ahead on the schedule and think positively there.
That would be good if you were a coach. But we're simply observers and our bias can't affect the outcome. So there are 2 alternative hypotheses. We win or we lose. Since my bias can't affect the result. I can chose to believe the hypothesis that we win is likely correct until I have evidence to reject it. I accept the possibility that I am wrong but await the result to show it.
In others words. Those who are predicting doom need to chill out and enjoy. All you're doing is increasing anxiety unnecessarily.
