That's all fine and good, except it isn't the same defense. We got this new coach this year and he got a new defensive coordinator with a new scheme and they actually PLAY defense this year as opposed to rolling over. Yeah, it's partially due to a new attitude but it's much more IMO. they actually (gasp!) make adjustments. They actually keep people out of the endzone from time to time. They actually get after the QB. They actually make interceptions unlike last year. This ain't the same defense. It may be many of the same players but it's a new day baby! A new day! Hear that Michael? It's all new, all the time! Any comparisons to last year are invalid and erroneous and dumb and stupid and dumb. So boom goes the dynamite.
I don't know if his comments will move the players's motivation meter even one click (if you need this stuff to get fired up to play in the SEC then you got a problem) but he certainly got me all fired up!). I may go slap a dawg at lunch. I may need someone to bail me out of jail this afternoon.
His point is that they've had success on these players before, so they plan on having success on them again, regardless of Auburn's record, ranking, and position as the favorite. I would approve of the same sort of attitude from Auburn players in the same position, though I would prefer they word it more eloquently so that people don't turn it into a slap in the face.
